Press Release – The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) is warning consumers about two batches of non-compliant food products:

  • CHICKEN LEG QUARTERS, batch number: 0092110015, use-by date: 8 August 2026, country of origin: Romania, veterinary approval mark: RO 100 EC
  • CHILLED CHICKEN THIGH FILLET, batch number: L226212680, use-by date: 9 August 2026, country of origin: Hungary, veterinary approval mark: HU 112 EC

Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of Salmonella Infantis in the specified batches. This bacterium causes salmonellosis.

Inspectors collected samples of both non-compliant batches at a Lidl Česká republika s.r.o. store located at Výstupní 3422/2a, Ústí nad Labem – Severní Terasa, 400 11.

As the use-by dates of the products have already passed, they are no longer available on the market. However, CAFIA strongly advises consumers who may still have these products at home in frozen form not to consume them. Freezing has virtually no effect on bacterial contamination.

CAFIA has submitted notifications to the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) so that further investigations can be carried out in the countries of origin.

CAFIA will initiate administrative proceedings against the inspected company with a view to imposing a fine.
