CAFIA found 2.64 tons of exotic atemoya thompson fruit with a cocktail of 6 pesticides above the limit, some exceeding the limit 7 times
The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected a non-compliant foodstuff ATEMOYA THOMPSON, fresh fruit unpackaged, lot designation: ‘LOTE:WPAT012003A’, supplier: R.PARISE IMPORTACAO E EXPORTACAO DE FRUTAS, Brazil, country of origin: Brazil.
A broad-spectrum analysis performed in an accredited laboratory confirmed presence of following pesticides above the limit in the food sample evaluated: acetamiprid amounting to 0.030 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg; limit: 0.01 mg/kg), buprofezin amounting to 0.073 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg), flupyradifurone amounting to 0.035 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg), fluxapyroxad amounting to 0.025 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg), imidacloprid amounting to 0.073 mg/kg (limit: 0.01 mg/kg), and pyraclostrobin amounting to 0.063 mg/kg (limit: 0.02 mg/kg).
The inspectors took the non-compliant sample at the premises of company Tao export&import s.r.o., Libušská 118/246, Prague 142 00.
According to the accompanying documentation, the non-compliant lot contained a total of 2.64 tonnes of the fruit in question.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure with the inspected person to impose a fine.
