CAFIA warns of two more cases of salmonella in chicken meat from abroad
The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) is warning consumers of two lots of unsafe chicken meat. These findings result from a planned emergency microbiological inspection. Laboratory analysis has confirmed presence of bacteria of the genus Salmonella Infantis, the causative agent of salmonellosis. Following products are concerned:
- CHICKEN FRESH CUTS, lot: 23342202, farmed and slaughtered in the Ukraine, veterinary identification mark: SK10094 ES, producer: WE Trade s.r.o., Hlavná 1088, 925 03 Horné Saliby, Slovakia. CAFIA inspectors took the sample at the premises of company MAKRO Cash & Carry ČR s.r.o., Jeremiášova 1249/7, Prague 5 155 00.
With regard to the fact that the product in question was labelled ‘Use by: 31.08.2023’, it is no longer available on the market. However, SZPI strongly recommends all consumers who might have the product at home in a frozen state that they do not consume it. Freezing has virtually no effect on bacterial contamination.
- Qualiko FROZEN CHICKEN, Frozen, quality class A, best before date: 20.12.2024, producer: Branch ‘Pererobniy Compleks’ of Limited Liability Company ‘Vinnytska Ptahofabryka’, 2B, Khlibozavodska st., Ladyzhyn, Vinnyts’ka Oblast, 24320, the Ukraine. CAFIA inspectors took the sample at the premises of company MAKRO Cash & Carry ČR s.r.o., MAKRO Cash & Carry ČR s.r.o., 396 Hrdějovice, 373 61.
CAFIA inspectors ordered the operator to immediately withdraw the lot in question from the market. CAFIA also strongly recommends all consumers who have the food lot at home that they do not eat it.
CAFIA entered a notification of the finding of the non-compliant foodstuffs into the European Rapid Alert System for Food (RASFF).
CAFIA will initiate an administrative proceeding on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
CAFIA informed of similar findings in its Press Releases of 22 August 2023, of 12 July 2023 and of 15 September 2023.
