The Ministry of Agriculture‘s Food Safety Information Center (FSIC) has been running the www.bezpecnostpotravin.cz website since 2003, which is intended for the education of a wide range of consumers as well as a professionals in the field of food safety.
The main task of the website is to inform and educate consumers about food safety and healthy nutrition issues, to transmit information from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), from the Czech Supervisory Authorities and from the RASFF system to the public. Registered users of the so-called “e-mail list”service receive up-to-date information on identification of unsafe food on the Czech market.
Due to the increasing activities of the Ministry of Agriculture in the area of ensuring quality and safe food for the period 2014-2017 the public consumers have increased their interest in and demand of high-quality and safe food as well as a significant increase in viewing the bezpecnostpotravin.cz website.
The bezpecnostpotravin.cz website helps to meet the objectives of the National Health Strategy 2020 (Action Plan 2 Good Nutrition and Eating habits) and Food Safety and Nutrition Strategy 2014-2020, regarding its educational activities.

The average monthly traffic on the website bezpecnostpotravin.cz increased from approximately 52,000 website visitors to 177,000 website visitors per month covering the period from 2014 until 2017, which is an increase of approximately 125,000 website visitors per month, ie. an increase of 240 %.
“Behind the Secret of Food or Do you know what you eat? “ is a fun competitive game focused on healthy nutrition and proper food handling. The event for families with children was prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture for the third time and took place at the National Agricultural Museum from 6 to 7 October 2017.
There were ten hunting sites focusing on the origin of food, healthy nutrition and safe food handling. The aim of the game was to gather as many stamps as possible while fulfilling some tasks. The event was accompanied by the duo Vanda and Standa musical band.
Each successful "player" received a diploma and some interesting prizes: pexeso, crayons, magnetic bookmarks, dried apples, colouring books, flying frisbees, notepads and more.
Children could also create their own products at the Creativity Workshop.
There were a lot of free thematic publications and materials on healthy nutrition and safe food handling available for visitors during the event.
The event was attended by around 1100 children.
The Food Safety Department of the Ministry of Agriculture has prepared for the visitors of this year's 44th edition of the Exhibition Centre,"Breadwinner Land“ as part of the accompanying programs, the schedule program for children and their families " Health Day" ".
The event takes place in České Budějovicein the open area at the main entrance of the exhibition grounds on Saturday 26 August 2017 from 9 am to 6 pm.
A fun competition game, "Behind the Secret of Food“ or "Do You Know What You Eat?" is prepared as part of the event. Children learn about the principles on healthy eating/nutrition and focus on promoting healthy nutrition habits. (for example, how to store food in the fridge, how to cook properly). Finally, both children and parents can try to run with weights to see for themselves how they will feel when they increase body weight.
After completing the competition tasks, the families will get interesting prizes: cloth bags, thematic pics, magnetic bookmarks, dried nutrition products, coloring books, flying frisbees, notepads and more. Furthermore, to be held musical entertainment program, "Come to visit us" by the duo Vanda and Standa on the topic of healthy nutrition, hygiene and food safety at 10 am and at 1 pm. There will also be prepared information and a promotional stand of the Food Safety Information Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, where thematic information materials and publications will be provided free for visitors to the Exhibition Centre.
The Ministry of Agriculture‘s Food Safety Information Center (FSIC) is designed primarily as a communication centre in relation to the public. Its aim is not only to improve mutual communication of all the interested parties but, in particular, to make accurate, generally accessible information covering the entire food production chain from the farm to the consumer (including feed) referred to as "F2F" ("Farm to Fork"), available early enough to the general public.
The Ministry of Agriculture also provides the comprehensive informational background for non-governmental (other than state-run) organisations involved and co-operating in the sphere of food safety. Our goal is to make the general public familiar with the problems of food safety in the form of topical news, warnings against risks, information on the results of research in the field of foodstuffs, nutrition, food technologies, hygiene, etc.
In addition to the papers on the respective topical subjects, we intend to offer to the visitors of our website the long-time experience of established specialists and the extensive information background of the Ministry of Agriculture.
